Walking the CBC picket line, and waiting for the snow to fly. You won't find any MP3's to download to your iPOD here. But you might come away with a craving for some raw caribou.

Drumroll please....

The actual retail price, in Rankin Inlet, for all the items in our virtual shopping cart is...

$276

The same items, based on advertised prices at Sobey's and the Superstore, would have cost $111 in the Toronto area.

So with a guess of $273, YK-Megan is the winner of a FABULOUS prize.
...

a CBC North Kivalliq 21st anniversary button, a slightly used lockout picket sign (autographed by CBC Kivalliq's own musical wonder and funny man, Charlie Panigoniak) and some samples of caribou and char jerky from Kivalliq Arctic Foods, here in Rankin Inlet.

Now, YK Megan is not in the X0C area code but seems to have had some "Northern Exposure."

And I'd like to give a prize to the "true southerner" with the closest guess.

So as long as Maggie hasn't lived north of 60, she also wins a slightly used lockout picket sign, autographed by CBC Kivalliq's own musical wonder and funny man, Charlie Panigoniak.

If it turns out she's not a "true Southerner" the prize will go to the "anonymous" who guessed $175.

We'll have to find some way to get you to claim your prizes. Any suggestions?

Also, I'll try to edit my original posts, so you can see what the ACTUAL RETAIL PRICE was for each item in the cart. But I probably won't get to that until tomorrow.

WHOO-HOO! It has been a long time since I won anything, and the fact that the prize is from Rankin makes it even sweeter.

Can you update everyone on the inukshuk? It's cold in Winnipeg today and as I was walking, I wondered, "How big is that inukshuk now...after 46 days?"

Cheers!

Maggie of the south here. In fact, the furthest north I've ever lived is Powell River BC, and that was a quarter century ago, so...

Wow! I can't believe I am a runner up! What an excellent prize! Thanks.

Sorry to hear you're so cold up there. I've been obsessively knitting scarves on the line down here in lotus land. Sounds like you might need one up there. Let me know where to mail it and I'll send one up your way.

Maggie? MAGGIE...? MAAAA GGGEEEEE?!
Are you out there?
I want to mail you your prize. You know the slightly bedraggled Lockout picket sign and the CBC Kivalliq button? I'll throw in some caribou jerky for good measure. (It looks awful and is kind of hard on the teeth..but it's some good once you've acquired a taste for it!)
If you want me to mail it to the CBC station nearest you I can do that too...and you could pick it up there. Let me know what you'd like to do by emailing me at:
qiqitiq@yahoo.com

ALSO...I'd LOVE a scarf!!! That would be so cool! A good scarf always comes in handy up here. But I'm being transferred to Iqaluit soon. So if the offer still stands...I'll email you my postal address after you've emailed me.
